SSMDA Official Mascot

Let me introduce to you the official SSMDA mascot:

This is Jasper, a 5 year old Appaloosa john mule. Jasper, born, raised, trained, and residing still in Covington County, Alabama, has an eye-catching coat and a definite love of people. Most folks who have ever visited the Circle C Ranch where Jasper calls home can attest to his insistence that their business is also his!

Jasper is well versed in many equine activities and performs well whether under saddle or in harness. He has hauled logs, hay, horses and feed as well as pulled a plow, disc, drag, sled and various types of trailers. He even transported the remains of Magilbra and Dolly Findley to their final resting place in Red Level, Alabama. Jasper has ridden trails around home, competed in shows, been on a longhorn cattle drive and just about everything in between.

Jasper is an excellent example of the versatility, athletic ability and intelligence of mules and donkeys alike. His good nature allows him to accommodate experienced riders or the occasional novice with the same confident ease. We hope that he will inspire you to find out just how much mules and donkeys have to offer.
