Meet Bojangles

Bojangles is the latest addition to the LaDon and Cathy Dewrell family of animals.

“Bo is a 17 hand bay mule. Although we have not had him very long he seems to fit right in with us. He has a very easy going nature toward not only people but other animals also.

NEW ADDITION

Lily is a sweet, black miniature mare.    She was bred to a miniature jack for a September 2009 foal; but Lily was carrying a foal that just wouldn’t wait!  Early on July 24, 2009, she delivered without incident a little john mule.   For about two weeks his survival seemed problematic at best.  Who would have thought that two adults could hand milk a miniature mare?  Believe me when I say that the process was not as easy as one might think!  But then this little john  seized life by the horns and  now seems to think he is the biggest thing on the place!  He will certainly steal your heart away!

Meet Hootie

Hootie and owner Kerry Hancock

Hootie is a 2 year old mule on his way to becoming a great friend and companion to his owner Kerry Hancock. Born and raised in Laurel Hill, Florida, his sire is a 15 hand black mammoth jack named Panhandle Rudee and his dam is a 15 hand spotted saddle horse named Patches.

Jasper and Kate take 3rd in Plowing Competition

March 15th was the date for the second annual plowing competition at Landmark Park in Dothan, Alabama. Jasper and Kate competed in the Walking Plow division and tied for third place. This was the first time for either mule to enter a plowing competition.

PLOWING COMPETITION

Walking and riding classes

One, two, or three hitch

Cash prize to the first three places

Class entry fee: $15 per hitch

The plowing will be judged by Joe Bullard of Blountsville, Alabama. Joe is the official judge of the Ohio State Plowing Competition and the United States Plowing Championship.

Congratulations to Grace along with Bess Wall for their win in the Ultimate Trail Horse Competition in Montgomery, Alabama! What a great victory!
